A Prescription for the Time-Impoverished Reader

Reading for the pure pleasure of the experience is something that fewer and fewer people have the time to pursue.  The stresses of work and family management can be alleviated by the balm of literature, but the slow intravenous drip of a novel cannot be accommodated by such circumstances.  Wine is fine, but liquor is quicker because it’s more concentrated.  The same can be said of shorter pieces such as flash literature, microfiction, short stories and poems.  They should not be given short shrift owing to their length because they release concentrated catharsis in a dose small enough to be consumed in the bathroom, while waiting on hold or on your daily commute.  May the works collected here bring you speedy relief from the agues of post-modern society.
